How much does AI SEO cost?
AI SEO is priced on the work your site needs, not on a fixed package. The main drivers are how much technical fixing the site needs, how many service and area pages you want, how often new pages go live, and how much reporting you want. Ask for a written scope that separates one-off fixes from monthly work.

You are paying for two kinds of work
The first kind has an end: fixing what stops search engines from reaching and understanding your site. That means crawl rules, indexing, redirects, structured data, page titles and descriptions, and business details that match everywhere. Once it is done, it mostly stays done.
The second kind continues: new and improved pages that answer the questions your customers ask, plus monthly measurement of searches, rankings and what AI answers say. This is where results build over time, and it is where most of the ongoing cost sits.
A proposal that blends the two into one monthly fee makes it hard to see what you are paying for. Ask for them to be priced separately.
What drives the price
| Driver | What it covers | How it affects cost |
|---|---|---|
| Technical fixes | Crawl access, indexing, redirects, structured data, titles and descriptions | Mostly one-off. Larger and older sites take longer. |
| Service and area pages | How many services and places you want to be found for | The biggest variable. Ten pages and a hundred pages are different jobs. |
| Publishing pace | How many new or improved pages each month | Sets most of the ongoing cost. |
| Business details | Google Business Profile and directory listings brought into line | Mostly one-off, more for multi-location businesses. |
| Reporting | Search Console, rankings and AI answer checks each month | Small, but it is how you know the rest is working. |
The state of the site matters more than its size. A small site with a crawl block or a broken redirect can need more early work than a large, well-built one. That is why any honest quote comes after someone has looked at the site.
Common ways agencies charge
A one-off check
A written review of your site with a fix order. Useful if you have a developer who can make the changes, or if you want a second opinion before committing to anything larger.
A project
A fixed price for a defined set of fixes and pages. It suits the foundations, because the work has a clear end.
A monthly arrangement
An agreed number of pages and a report each month. It suits the ongoing work. The scope should say how many pages, who writes them, who approves them and what the report contains.
What to ask before you sign
- What exactly will you change on our site in the first month?
- Who writes the pages, and do we approve each one before it goes live?
- How do you measure AI answers, and which engines do you check?
- If we stop, do we keep every page, setting and piece of structured data?
- Which of this could our own developer or staff do instead?
Our guide on choosing an AI SEO agency adds the checks to run on the agency itself.
What a monthly report should show
The report is how you judge whether the money is working, so agree its contents before you sign. At a minimum it should show impressions and clicks from Search Console for the pages the agency worked on, rankings for the searches you agreed to target, the pages published or changed that month, and what the main AI engines said when asked about your category in your area. It should also say what the agency plans next and why. A report that only shows numbers going up, with no link to the work done, tells you very little.
Warning signs
Guaranteed rankings or guaranteed AI placements. Google says meeting its requirements does not guarantee a page will be shown, and every AI engine decides its own answers. A guarantee means the agency is guessing, or plans to count something other than what you care about.
Selling a special AI file as the main fix. Google says you don't need AI text files or special markup to appear in its AI features. Our llms.txt guide explains where such files fit.
Long lock-in without a written scope. If an agency cannot say what it will do each month, a twelve-month term protects them, not you.
How Galactia prices
We check your site first, then send a written scope that separates the one-off fixes from the monthly work, with a fixed price for each. You approve every page before it goes live, you keep everything we build, and the monthly report shows what changed. The details of the work itself are on our AI SEO services page.
Questions
-
Is AI SEO more expensive than ordinary SEO?
Not inherently. Most of the work is the same: technical fixes, clear pages and measurement. The additions are small, such as checking AI crawler access and what answer engines say about you. Be wary of a large premium for the word AI alone.
-
Should we pay monthly or per project?
The fixes suit a fixed project price because the work has an end. New pages and reporting suit a monthly arrangement because they continue. A good proposal separates the two so you can see what each costs.
-
Do we keep the pages if we stop?
You should. Pages, structured data and settings made on your website should stay yours. Ask before signing; some agencies host content on their own platforms, and it disappears when the contract ends.
